Commentary: The Shining

Largely dismissed and overlooked (get it?) at the time of its release - not to mention hated by Stephen King, who wrote the novel it’s based on - The Shining has achieved its rightful status as one of the all time classics of the horror genre. Stanley Kubrick’s reimagining of this tale of possession and isolation is full of beautiful scenic views, disorienting sets and shots, an ominous score and some magnificent performances.
