Where it all began. The DREWVIEEEEWs! These are still a work in progress as I’m tightening these up and am trying to just dump all the movies that have recently come out but in this first episode Jay and I go over some of the newer movies we’ve seen and add a brief opinion of each!

Episode 8: Friday the 13th

Ah, nothing like a good ol’ summer camp. Like our previous episode, Little Darlings (where Drew couldn’t find the damn mic), we find ourselves yet again at a loving camp. The smell of nature, the wonderful lake, the murderous psycho going around killing the counselors. Yessir! This is where it alllll started! So join us as we jump into Camp Crystal lake!

Episode 7: Little Darlings

Just in time for summer we are releasing our summer camp episode! Yessir the coming of age film when 2 girls from opposite sides of the tracks have a bet on who can lose their V card first! Oh yeah….IT GETS AWKWARD! So join us as we dive into the cool lake with Little Darlings! (I’m sure that could’ve been worded better.)

Episode 6: Coal Miners Daughter

Sissy Spacek brings the story of Loretta Lynn’s meteoric rise to life in this musical biopic. From a shack in the coal mining town of Butcher Holler to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, we follow Lynn’s early career and her emergence as one of the most important female artists in country music, with her less than reliable husband Doolittle (played by Tommy Lee Jones) by her side. Join us as we go inside and look at this Oscar winning film!

BONUS: Drews Disney Dump - Pinocchio

From a princess who was white as snow straight to  a rascally, ignorant, little wooden head; Walt Disney zaps us into the Italian tale of Pinocchio! Join us as we go over the troubles this film had upon release (a war was a-comin!), just how much went into animating the physics of a puppet, and the absolutely insane original kids book that this beloved second Disney feature was based on!

Episode 5: All That Jazz

It’s showtime, folks! Dance choreography legend Bob Fosse takes us on a journey - based on his own life and career - that is both a celebration of musical theatre and a rumination on mortality, with a powerhouse performance by Roy Scheider.

BONUS: Drew's Disney Dump - Snow White

What??? A bonus series?? We must be crazy!!! Though only slightly maniacal never you worry. This is a side series we wanted to do due to the fact that Drew loves his Disney. So join Drew, Byron, and our friend Jay as we go through the history and give fun information to all our Disney friends for every movie, in order, of Disney’s Animation Studios. We will watch how Disney was able to adapt and change throughout the years, bringing us all of the classics we have burned into our brains, from the beginning of Snow White, to the resurgence in the 60’s of films like Jungle Book and Sword and the Stone, to the the renaissance of Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast…and beyond!

Commentary: The Shining

Largely dismissed and overlooked (get it?) at the time of its release - not to mention hated by Stephen King, who wrote the novel it’s based on - The Shining has achieved its rightful status as one of the all time classics of the horror genre. Stanley Kubrick’s reimagining of this tale of possession and isolation is full of beautiful scenic views, disorienting sets and shots, an ominous score and some magnificent performances. Join us for a very special episode as we watch and comment on this remarkable film.
